Ver esta publicación en Instagram A fun day from last September showing my friends from @prana around some of my favorite #psicobloc spots on the west coast of Mallorca. Can’t wait to get back !

Good to be home. I’ve been on the road too much lately- it caught up with me a bit. I am so grateful for the life I get to live but sometimes there’s nothing more that I want than to be home and to enjoy the local outdoors with my friends. Travel is a luxury but it can be grueling. It throws off routine and diverts the comforts of community to a more fleeting feeling. I love exploring the world, meeting new people, and climbing in remote destinations. I also love being at home, healthy cooking, catching up with friends, and unpacking. 🙏🏻 life is momentary. I am happy to be still for this moment.

Ver esta publicación en Instagram A Peak Experience flying over an Iconic Peak! LINK TO VIDEO IN MY PROFILE!! A couple of days ago I had the extremely rare pleasure of soaring up the side of Mt. Shasta, California’s northern most fourteener, with two of my good friends and paragliding mentors @mitch.riley.84 and @nicgreece ... Mitch and Nick are two of the most accomplished pilots in North America... you could compare them to the Caldwell and Honnold of their sport, but... because in the USA paragliding still resides out of the mainstream limelight of media and sponsors, there are no sponsorship paychecks, and no massive instagram followings for these two guys who represent the pinnacle of accomplishment for Paragliding in our country. Honestly the obscureness of the sport has been one of the things I have loved about learning to paraglide; it reminds me of the ragtag band of fringed out weirdos that became my climbing family in Yosemite during the late 90s when I arrived wide eyed and filled with larger than life dreams. Not to knock the growing “mainstreaming” of climbing as it approaches the Olympics, I love the evolution of the sport, and am grateful for the career it has provided for me, but it has been refreshing to push myself in a sport that because of the risk and high level of training needed to participate at a basic level... will probably never be “blowing up” the way that climbing has. That being said, I really think that the sport is outrageous, incredible and deserving of more recognition and respect and am happy to sing its praises. The fact that I was able too soar the summit of Mt. Shasta, is hard for me to even comprehend! It feels like a dream, but it was a reality. Props to Mitch for hustling together this little video edit and taking this banger photo of Nick, swipe through to see some of my photos of soaring the summit, and watch the video which culminates with us soaring Mt. Shasta after doing a 125km loop around the valley! INCREDIBLE!!!!

Ver esta publicación en Instagram Climbing out of a hole in Rifle. The past few weeks I have been bouldering in the park during the week and hitting up Rifle on the weekends. Alternating between the two disciplines has been fun and a good balance of overall fitness and psyche. Maintaining power has allowed route cruxes to feel easier and endurance prolongs the boulder session. After doing Fat Camp, I went on to onsight my first 8b+ at wizard’s gate called “Black Magic” put up by @jonathansiegrist, made the 3rd ascent of @honngy and @jon_cardwell “Stocking Stuffer” (9a) in Rifle, and sent “The Colinator” (8b+) (pictured here) yesterday in nuclear heat. @james_lucas I guess decided to take some shots while belaying as I was fighting the heat 😛. Next on the list is “Shadowboxing” (9a).

Ver esta publicación en Instagram Despite working the entire holiday weekend (doing autopsies), I was able to get some good training in! I just finished week 1 of my lattice training program that is focused on improving my very poor anerobic capacity and my push ability. So far, it’s been a change of pace with deadlifts and heavier hangboard weights on big edges. I’ll keep everyone updated as time goes on! Pictured here is a super fun v1 on the Fight Club boulder. #trainingtuesday #trainingisfun #gottaclimbv14 . . .

Ver esta publicación en Instagram I did it! Whoop. So desperately... In the heat and the smoke. This route has the ability to completely wipe your memory of beta (since there are almost no holds and only one obvious feature). I feel like it was a team ascent with Neil Dyer inspiring me to go up there and belying me a tonne. We called it ‘Tainted Love aka Northern Soul’ after the song and the feeling of loving something like climbing but also kind of hating it sometimes (when your legs are burning and you feet hate you and you’ve forgotten whether to stem or to bridge.) I’d say it’s 5.13d R placing the gear, 8b, or E8 6c. It’s all on gear and placing the gear is definitely cruxy (tiny wires). I really hope someone repeats this thing because the climbing is crazy cool and I feel like this kind of technical but powerful climbing is a dying art. #fuckingbrits #burningbridges #themythicalbeing #smokeshow #slammedopen thanks Jonny Baker for all the shots.
