Celebrado por miembros de la comunidad bisexual, el día internacional de la bisexualidad es el 23 de septiembre y tiene por objeto reconocer la libre orientación sexual e identidad de género frente a diversas formas de intolerancia. La fecha fue instaurada en 1999 por un grupo de activistas de la Unión Americana, quienes decidieron manifestar la necesidad de reconocer y celebrar la bisexualidad ante los prejuicios y actos discriminatorios que enfrentaban por parte de las personas heterosexuales e incluso de la comunidad LGBT.
