Era el 13 de julio de 1985 y los medios de comunicación estallarían con uno de los más grandes conciertos en la historia de la música, pues ese día, que hoy lo conocemos como el Día Mundial del Rock, se vivió el legendario Live Aid, organizado por el músico y compositor Bob Geldof, líder de The Boomtow Rats, a quién conocemos también por interpretar a Pink en la cinta The Wall, creada alrededor del mítico disco del mismo nombre de Pink Floyd.
El festival masivo se llevó a cabo de forma simultánea en el Estadio Wembley de Londres, Inglaterra frente a 72mil personas, y en el Estadio John F. Kennedy de Filadelfia, Estados Unidos, frente a 100mil personas, además de ser transmitido en más de 70 países, completamente en vivo vía satélite.
Este momento histórico se realizó con el motivo de recaudar fondos para ayudar a combatir la hambruna en África, pues se vivía una situación bastante extrema referente a la escasez de alimento, especialmente en Somalia y Etiopía, así fue como Geldof juntó a los artistas más grandes del momento para hacer historia, no solo en la música, si no, en la cultura actual.

Entre los artistas destacados, pudimos ver a grandes actos de la década de los 80, como Scorpions, Sting, David Gilmour de Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Who, Elton John, Santana y Madonna, además de la prometida reunión de Led Zeppelin, quienes se habían separado en 1981 tras la muerte de su baterista, John Bonham y esa ocasión los acompañaría Phil Collins en la batería, aunque la reunión de Zep sería considerada como el peor acto de la noche.
Sin embargo, este show también pasó a la historia por marcar el regreso de Queen a los escenarios, pues la banda se encontraba en declive en esos años y su acto en Live Aid no solo los regresaría de las cenizas, los convertiría en leyenda, siendo uno de los momentos más icónicos de este megaconcierto y de la historia de la música.
Encima de esto, otra banda que despegó en este show fue U2, pues el set que entregaron en vivo resaltó por su energía y explosividad, especialmente en la rendición del tema Bad, que se prolongaría a 11 minutos con 36 segundos.
